Sample Sessions and Open Gyms in September and October

Our season is looming closer and the first events of the fall have been scheduled.  There are two types of sessions coming up that may be of interest to you.

Sample Sessions are helpful for players that are brand new to volleyball. They may have expressed an interest and want to explore what it might be like to be part of a volleyball team. These sessions are open to 4th through 8th graders and will focus on fundamentals of how to position your body, how to call for the ball using your OUTSIDE VOICE, how to pass the ball, how to serve underhand, and some fun games incorporating those skills.  These sessions will cover the same skills each time so may be repetitive if you attend more than one, but as the skills grow in the attendees we will add challenges for those that need them. Open Gyms allow players who have played in school or on JO teams to get back in the gym to warm up their skills before the tryouts in October.  There are usually two courts with one set up for 5th and 6th graders and one for 7th graders and up. There are coaches on each court to help guide the players in working on their skills in passing, setting, serving, and attacking as well as playing games such as queens of the court, rotational 4s, scrimmages, survivor, etc.  Choose the Open Gyms link on the left of the page for more details.

Each of these sessions cost $10 to help with gym rental costs.  Watch for registration information soon.

The Sample Sessions will be on Tuesday, Sept. 11 and Sept. 18.

The Open Gym sessions will be on Tuesday, Sept. 25 and Oct. 2.
