Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can I play with Wayzata Juniors if I live outside
the Wayzata School District 284?
A: Players living outside the district are welcome, although we must maintain
a balance of in-district participants. All out-of-district participants will
pay an additional $50 fee.
Q: Will there be cuts?
A: Our goal is to provide every potential player an opportunity to participate.
However, due to gym time and coach limitations we cannot guarantee an opportunity
for all.
Q: How often will teams practice?
A: We try to schedule two practices per week for each team. Practices will range
from 90-120 minutes.
Q: Where and when will teams practice?
A: We have practice times on Sunday afternoons and Monday through Friday evenings
at district facilities. Practice times will be inconsistent as our gym
time varies due to school events. All of our 15s and 16s teams will have
a practice scheduled on Wednesday evenings. This is necessary due to the limited
amount of practice slots. As a general rule, we try to give the younger teams
the earlier practice times on most evenings. We strive to get all teams out
of the gym by 9:30 PM.
Q: What uniform items do fees include?
A: A uniform consists of a pair of blue shorts, a Mizuno jersey, and a t-shirt.
We are also including a warmup jacket as part of your uniform.
Q: What if there are conflicts with other activities
on some nights? What is considered an excused absence?
A: We all have to balance the important things in our lives. We believe that
family, church, and school are important for each of us and recognize that scheduling
conflicts will occur. It is the responsibility of the athlete to notify their
coach well in advance about potential conflicts. Items that cannot be influenced
by the player, such as occasional religion classes or band concerts, will be
excused absences. Things that can be influenced by better planning, such as
waiting to do homework until a Sunday when you also have a competition, are
likely to be unexcused. Unexcused absences may result in a reduced role during
upcoming competitions.
